As I mentioned in the last section, I’ve been book-writing for a solid two years. In that time, I’ve also had client work, mentoring, and teaching at the University of Washington—but the back of my brain has been constantly ruminating on how can we articulate this and what’s the best way to structure it and ugh why is writing so hard.
Now that I’ve reached the end of a journey, what begins?
I’m enjoying the freedom to look around, to drink up new ideas like I’ve reached the farthest oasis. I want new work, new problems, new relationships, and new goals to strive toward!
And at the same time, for at least another week, I seem to need more sleep than usual. Perhaps it’s just the spring-forward time change, but it’s probably the last two years of pushing these major projects forward.
If you have recovery-period advice (or commiseration!) I’d love to hear it. I’m better at pushing forward than stopping to take a breath, but I am increasingly aware of how much more productive it can be to include rest, and to make new commitments from a contemplative place.
And if you have a project that I can help with, I might be looking for you, too. Let me know!
